Mother's Day
May 10, 2013
There is a rumor that you haven't gotten your Mom, Grandma, or daughter (in law) a Mother's Day gift. Shame, shame! If everybody jumped off a cliff, would you jump off a cliff? Have you done your homework? Your hair/face/body/outfit/weird nose looks just fine! I'm cold, put on a sweater. Do you want to look like everybody else? You are such a good girl! All the lessons our Moms taught us. What would we be without them (besides taller, skinnier, with nicer hair...)? Sunday is the designated day to remember Mom. Do your part. Shop at Garden Dance for fun, thoughtful, creative and spectacular Mother's Day gifts. Those of us who don't have our Moms anymore insist....

Springtime at Garden Dance
April 26, 2013

I just got back from a little jaunt over to the coast. The flowers have inspired me and Mary Margaret is feeling all sentimental about color...We went to my friend, Mitch Evans house, for inspiration and boy, was it! He is becoming a famous gardener in the area (check out the Kirkland Garden Tour in June) and is an artist, painting with plants. I feel like a lazy dog...

This spring is all about color! Garden Dance is all about color! Do you need some color in your life? Yes! Do you need a new dress? Of course. Do you have enough black to carry you over into the next decade. Yep. Think about color. It's happy. It's spring. It's right now.

April Fool's Tip of the Week
April 01, 2013
Today, April Fool's Day, I am instituting myself as the resident fool as I offer up my version of a Fashion Tip of the Week. Yes! despite the fact that I am a 54 year old woman, altitudally (that's not really a word, children) challenged, burdened with poor eyesight and farmer's mentality will attempt to boss you around. Now that is my favorite part! Last week, I wrote on the chalkboard at the store that week's tip of the week on the heavy subject of whether you should feel free to wear boots with a dress. I say yes! My lovely daughter in law, mother of twin 3 month old daughters, wore a khaki green ISDA dress from last summer with her brown Lucchese cowboy boots for Easter. She looked hot!!! I think boots, cowboy or military, funky old boots or high style new boots are perfect in terms of balance. Dressing is a bit of an art form, or can be if you want it to be. It involves scale, texture, balance. Look at yourself in the mirror (see yourself as you did about 20 years ago, just for your ego's sake) and critically notice those three principles. You don't want a big top and little, tiny feet. You want an organic looking dress to go with the shoes - no super dressy top with low-down shoes. Or visa versa. All this can be ignored if you are very tall and thin, but that leaves the rest of us to try harder. It can be fun. Give it a try. Okay, on to this week's Tip of the Week (thank goodness I have inexhaustable resources of bossiness). Denim! Denim, invented in the 1800's, wasn't it by Mr. Levi?, has been with us ever since. What would we do without it? Jeans are being reinvented by designers on a daily basis. Currently, we're still seeing lots of colored denim. Right now we have forest green, leaf green, red, turquoise, black, white in the store in addition to regular denim in every wash from very dark to very light. Straight leg, cigarette leg, legging type and lots of boyfriend styles. Boyfriend is another way of saying loose, which I wouldn't discount since people always think you are skinnier because your pants are loose in all the right places. So there! Don't you feel better? Just for our mental state (mine maybe, not yours), Garden Dance is featuring 20% off denim this week so you can really sink your teeth into denim of the season. Let our skillful staff fit you in a pair or two of jeans this week. Show off your bum to it's best glory! Do it with flare and 20% off never hurts.....

20% off dresses for Easter
March 28, 2013
Garden Dance is celebrating Easter with 20% off dresses through Saturday (that's only 3 days, so giddy-up!). I've been thinking about it and truly, you need a new dress! Wear it for Easter, wear it to a wedding, wear it to the grocery store; doesn't matter. Dress up a little with a new dress! We've also just done a bunch of markdowns, so the 20% off doesn't apply to sale dresses that are already marked down more than that. Think Easter bonnets and dresses for this weekend!!!
